| Acceptance testing is a key activity to the success of a project. Acceptance testing should demonstrate to the client, end users, and IT operations that the solution delivered by the project has met the pre defined acceptance criteria and is fit for the purpose for which its was commissioned.
It should be considered as a validation and verification exercise making the assumption that he system or solution is production ready and has passed all earlier test phases successfully.
Acceptance testing should cover both user and IT operational acceptance and should be defined prepared and executed in a realistic manner using real life scenarios and data. The user community and IT operations are key players in defining and executing this stage of testing.
Our experience is that the a well defined testing strategy plan and organisation is required if the test is to be successful.
Acceptance should always be considered from a client /supplier point of view and planning start at the inception of the project if to enable a 'win win' conclusion to the project.
